In modern society, more and more consumers get their hair colored or permed. Natural hair swatch is not enough to reflect the real hair situation of consumers. More and more consumers are facing hair problems brought by chemical treatment such as yellowing, hair straw like, hair splite ends, difficult to manage, etc. To solve these problems, more and more hair products are targeting on chemical treated hair. So standardized chemical treated hair swatch is needed to evaluate performance of these kind of hair products. We use standardized process to bleach natural hair into different levels or perm it into different curliness to get standardized chemical treated hair swatch, in order to reflect real comsumers' hair situation.

The damaged hair is made from the natural hair, using bleach process with hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. With different concentration of bleach agents and bleaching time, three different levels of bleached hair can be made and be further prepared for all kinds of hair swatches for evaluation.

The contact angle represents the hydrophilicity of surface of the hair, healthy hair due to its cuticle integrity and hydrophobic lipid, shows hydrophobic state. When hair is more bleached, more lipid and cuticle loss, hair becomes more and more hydrophilic, so contact angle becomes smaller. The fracture stress represents the stress when hair is broken. When fracture stress gets smaller means hair is more easily broken. With increasing of the bleaching and perm level, the hair will become more and more easy to break. This is because the hair cortex which determines hair strength is more damaged. Our standardized bleached or permed hair can simulate chemical treated hair in different stages, which reflex damaged hair reality of consumers.
